Remodeling an existing facility is an allowable project under BHCIP and CCE as long as it results in an expansion that will allow the facility to serve a greater number of the target population. Repairs to an existing licensed ARF or RCFE that does not result in an expansion would be considered preservation under the CCE model. Approximately 25 percent of the total CCE funds will be made available for rehabilitation to preserve settings that currently serve the target populations, including $55 million for a COSR for existing licensed facilities, including but not limited to those facilities that receive preservation capital funding. These funds will be provided to counties and tribes through a direct-to-county and -tribe allocation process.
